$2.5 Million Allocated To Saskatchewan Independent Schools

The Government of Saskatchewan has announced an additional $2.5 million in funding for independent schools that have experienced an increase in enrolment due to the pandemic.

This funding is from the $150 million that has been made available in the COVID-19 contingency fund for education from provincial and federal funding, as well as school division savings from the suspension of in-class learning in the spring.

Independent schools have previously received $2.4 million from Phase 1 and Phase 2 of the contingency funding disbursements for costs including sanitation, furniture and equipment, information technology and remote learning.

This additional funding is specifically for independent schools that have seen enrolment increases and is being distributed based on enrolments.

The next intake for school division and independent schools funding applications for the remaining $23.7 million in the contingency fund will be on March 1, 2021.
