Death of 67 year old in Yorkton considered suspicious

On Sept. 13 at around 5:15 a.m., RCMP were called to Wellington Park Road for a report of an unresponsive man in the street.

The unresponsive man was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The death of a man, 67, who was found on a Yorkton, Sask., street earlier this week has been deemed suspicious.

So far, the suspicious death is not being called a homicide.

The RCMP haven't released the man's name.

A park near Hopkins Lake in the city's north side remained blocked off Thursday in connection with the investigation.

According to police, there is no risk to public safety at this time. Wellington Park Road is open but a park near Hopkins Lake in Yorkton remains blocked off. Police said the area should be open late Thursday or early Friday morning.

They're asking anyone who may have seen any suspicious activity in Yorkton between midnight and 5 a.m. CST Tuesday to contact the police or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
