At approximately 3:40 a.m., November 4, 2020, Patrol members observed a black, 2005 Kia Sorento disobey a stop sign at Avenue D North and 35th Street West. A traffic stop was conducted and the vehicle pulled over, allowed a passenger to exit, and fled at a high rate of speed. The Air Support Unit guided members of the Corman Park Police to deploy a tire deflation device on Highway 11, north of city limits. The vehicle came to rest in a ditch where the driver fled on foot. He was quickly apprehended with the help of a Police Service Dog.
Inside the vehicle, officers located a cattle prod, brass knuckles and bear mace. Crystal Meth, powdered cocaine, crack cocaine and fentanyl were also located inside, along with items consistent with drug trafficking. The suspect was taken to hospital for treatment of minor injuries caused by the dog bite, prior to being transported to SPS Detention.
A 42 year old Prince Albert, SK man is charged with Trafficking Crystal Methamphetamine, Powdered Cocaine, Crack Cocaine and Fentanyl. He is also facing six dangerous driving and weapons-related offences.
The investigation is ongoing.
