Elderly woman escapes robbery attempt by 26 year old Regina man on Osler Street

The Regina Police Service is asking for the public’s assistance in helping to identify the victim of a recent street robbery.

On Friday, December 11, 2020 at approximately 4:40 p.m., police were dispatched to a report of a robbery in progress at 12th Avenue and Osler Street. Early information suggested a female was approached by a male suspect who tried to grab the bag the female was carrying. Fortunately, the male did not get the bag from the victim, however, the female victim left the area on foot before the robbery was reported to police.

When officers arrived, police located the suspect male and he was arrested. Police are still working to identify and locate the victim to ensure she is unharmed and to get her statement. She is described as an elderly woman and the bag she was carrying was described as a reusable bag with a floral pattern.

As a result of the investigation: 26 year-old Shawn Michael DESNOMIE, of Regina, has been charged with:

  • Robbery [CC 344 (1)(B)];

  • Fail To Comply With Probation Order [CC 733.1 (1)];

  • Fail To Comply With Condition of a Release Order [CC 145 (5)(A)].

DESNOMIE made his first court appearance on these charges this morning (Monday, December 14, 2020) at 9:30 a.m.
