Regina man charged in connection with Taxi Robbery on Toronto Street

On November 6th, 2020 at approx. 17:30 hours the Regina Police Service responded to a call at 8th Avenue and Toronto St. from a Taxi driver who stated his taxi had been stolen.

The taxi driver had picked up a fare in the South Central area of the city and drove him to several areas within the city. At one of the stops the male went into a house and returned with some belongings. The male put the items in the trunk and asked the taxi driver to take him to another destination. The taxi driver asked the male for some money for the fare. The male then went back to the trunk and took out a hammer and threatened the taxi driver with it. The male then told the taxi driver to get out of the taxi. When the driver did so the male got in and drove away.

The taxi was tracked and located by Regina Police Service members. The male was arrested without incident.

No one was injured as a result of this incident.

Thirty-seven year old Jordan TOMIK was charged with the following offence:  Robbery contrary to Section 344(1)(B) of the Criminal Code of Canada.

Jordan TOMIK of Regina will make his first court appearance in Provincial court on Monday November 9th, 2020.
