The Regina Police Service is investigating a sexual assault that occurred in Regina yesterday (Sunday). Police are advising of the potential increased risk to public safety, but also asking for any information from the public that may help in solving this case.
This is an investigation in its very early stages so the details are quite limited. There may be more information forthcoming, but when this investigation began, the safety and physical/mental well-being of the victim was the priority. For these reasons the victim’s initial interview by police was brief.
At this stage, police have a limited report from the victim, who says she was sexually assaulted in the early morning hours of Sunday, December 6, 2020. The victim was in the area of the 2900 block of 14th Avenue at approximately 3:30 or 4:00 a.m. on Sunday morning. The victim reports she was assaulted outside a building, by an unknown suspect. After the sexual assault, the victim made her way into the building and then to hospital. Police were called by hospital staff at approximately 8:30 a.m.
Officers have already canvassed the neighbourhood to look for evidence and will re-interview the victim when she may be better able to recall details such as a description of the suspect.
This incident is under investigation.
