Rockets win 2nd straight RPFL championship

After mother nature taking the first game in Rhein, the Rockets defeated the Neudorf Posse 7-6 on Wednesday to take the league title for the second year in a row.

Game one ended in a no contest with the Posse leading 2-1 in the 5th but couldn’t finish the inning due to rain. It was then decided that a winner take all game two would be played the next Monday in Neudorf to decide the league championship.

In Game 2 the Rockets got out to an early 3-0 lead in the top of the first courtesy a two run line drive from Terry Peppler. At the bottom of the inning the Neudorf Posse puts up 4 runs of their own to take the lead 4-3.

Chris Baber hit a solo home run to put the Posse up 5-3 in the bottom of the 3rd inning.

Rhein Rockets then scored 2 runs to tie the game in the top of the 4th inning.

Both teams would exchange runs in the fifth tying the score at 6 a piece before Rhett Reeve hit an absolute bomb of a solo home run to give the Rockets a 7-6 lead in the top of the 7th and final inning.

Rocket's Pitcher, Terry Peppler retired Neudorf’s 9-1-2-3-4-5 batters in order in the bottom of the 6th and 7th to cement the victory for the defending champions.

Excellent pitching and defense was on display for both teams. Defensive stars of the game were Bret Peppler at short stop for Rhein and Jared Wirth at 2nd base for Neudorf were exceptional.

Rhett Reeve of the Rhein Rockets was named RPFL playoff MVP.
