Two Prince Albert women face weapons and drug-related charges following a vehicle stop

Members of the Prince Albert Integrated Crime Reduction Team (ICRT) have charged two women with weapons and drug-related charges following a vehicle stop just north of the city Friday evening.

Just before 9:30 p.m. Friday, ICRT members stopped the vehicle for failure to display a license plate. Upon further investigation, police located numerous rounds of ammunition, a modified rifle, a can of bear spray, a knife, methamphetamine, and drug paraphernalia.

A 20-year-old woman and a 28-year-old woman are both facing charges in relation to this file.

The Prince Albert ICRT uses intelligence and data to direct police resources to specific public safety initiatives aimed at tackling gangs, guns and violence. Crime Reduction Teams are a result of the Provincial Gang Violence Reduction Strategy to address the increase of gang and firearm-related crimes.

Following the investigation into the crimes committed above, ICRT members spotted a 43-year-old male at a nearby business who was wanted by police for several charges, including failure to comply with court-ordered conditions, fraud, resist arrest, and drive while disqualified.

ICRT members arrested the man and located approximately 40 grams of cocaine and 10 grams of methamphetamine. He is now facing additional criminal charges, including possession of a controlled substance and possession of the proceeds of crime.
