The city of Melville received a grant from the federal government of $32,500 through the federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM) to work on it's asset managment program, which they applied for through the Leadership in Asset Managment Program in the past.

City Councillor Brian Hickie says that being a member of the FCM really benifits Melville; contraary to feelings expressed by past members of city council.

City of Melville's public works manager Andrew Fahlman explained if the city wasn't apart of the FCM it would not have received the grant.
