Fatalities confirmed by RCMP in Humboldt Broncos Bus Crash

Melfort RCMP have confirmed fatalities after the Humboldt Broncos Junior Hockey Club's team bus collided with a semi that failed to stop at a stop sign and crashed into the bus while it was travelling at highway speeds on highway 355 near Gronlid, north of Melfort, Sasakatchewan.

STARS air ambulance has also been dispatched to the area.

Traffic is expected to be blocked or restricted in the area for several hours, RCMP say.

The number of fatalities has yet to be confirmed, but RCMP say officers are still continuing rescue efforts on scene and will release the number of deceased after all of the next of kin have been contacted.

Families can gather at Nipawin Apostolic Church, according to police. Emergency measures personnel and victim services workers will be made available for families.

RCMP say traffic is expected to be blocked or restricted on highway 355 north of Tisdale for several hours.
