Police recover remains in 23 year old missing persons case

On Thursday, December 3, 2020, as part of the ongoing investigation into a 1997 missing persons case, the Regina Police Service along with the Saskatchewan Coroner’s Service located and recovered human remains that are believed to be those of Patrick Cyril THAUBERGER. The recovery was made in rural Saskatchewan and is subject to further investigation and forensic examination to confirm this belief. Family members have been notified of this development.

















Patrick Cyril THAUBERGER was reportedly last seen on September 3, 1997, and was reported as a missing person to the Regina Police Service on September 16, 1997. Comprehensive investigative efforts occurred throughout the past 23 years. After recent investigative steps, on Sunday, November 29, 2020, Regina Police Service members arrested and charged a 78 year-old Regina male with the murder of Patrick THAUBERGER, as well as uttering threats to an adult female, between 1997 and 2014.


This matter remains under investigation and is currently before the courts. No further details will be available at this time.
