Severe Wind Warning issued for South West Saskatchewan

WIND WARNING (YELLOW LEVEL) UPDATED by Environment Canada on Wednesday, January 21, 2026.

Strong winds that may cause damage are expected. With severe wind gusts exceeding 90 km/h in Southwestern Saskatchewan beginning overnight Tuesday into Wednesday afternoon.

A strong cold front surging South through the province will bring strong to severe northwesterly winds with gusts as high as 90 to 100 km/h beginning overnight Tuesday into Wednesday morning. The strong winds combined with pockets of flurry activity will lead to areas of near-zero visibilities in blowing snow. Conditions will improve Wednesday afternoon.

Local utility outages are possible. Driving conditions will likely be difficult. Damage to roofs, fences, branches or soft shelters is possible. Secure loose objects.

Wind warnings are issued when there is a significant risk of damaging winds.
